2020 Goals: Curator of my own Contentment

“And now let us welcome the New Year, full of things that have never been.” - Rainer Maria Rilke

It’s December 27th, and we’re right in the middle of the lull that is the six days between Christmas and New Year’s. The world seems a little quieter, a little slower, and it feels like there is more room to breathe and think and dream. So that’s what I’ve been doing.

Since we got home from holidays with the extended family I’ve been getting creative, journaling, drinking copious amounts of tea, and turning my hopes and dreams for 2020 into concrete plans. I’m a Virgo and type 4 enneagram soooooooo, yeah. Planning and making lists and charts and spreadsheets are kinda my jam. ;)

This year I have a few basic resolutions surrounding general health and fitness, but mostly I’ve been focusing on recognizing my true aspirations. A lot of my true aspirations are things that I’ve longed for or secretly always hoped to do, but just kept tucked away until the timing seemed right… which it never seemed to be. The last few days I got very honest with myself, and realized I had tucked these things away not because of timing, but because of comfort. Throughout 2020 I’m going to try my best to simply trust that the timing is right, believe in myself, and get out of my comfort zone more. And as cheesy as that may sound, I think by putting that into daily practice I’ll slowly but surely start to see positive change and the growth I’ve been dreaming of.

Throughout 2019 it became clearer to me than ever before that my contentment with life is entirely my own responsibility. Throughout 2020, I hope to become the true curator of that contentment. I hope that in another year, I’ll be living the most creative, joyous and fulfilling life that I can imagine… or at least be well on my way there. ;)

And on that note, I’m about to switch gears and start on a project that has been in the back of my head for almost five years! But if you’re like me and you feel a shift this year, a pull to do more, experience more and be more, here are a few motivational quotes to help get you thinking and questioning. What do you truly want? What changes will you make? Where will you begin?
